Whenever possible allow your dog to hunt. Generally, we like to help, rather than handle when the dog is simply lost and doing nothing wrong. Handle when the failure on a mark is due to the fact they are not fighting the factors. Whether you burn for this depends on the factor, age of dog, and the degree to which the factor is clear. Quite often you will only burn for a cast refusal. Handle for fundamental errors such as switching, going back to an old fall, or hunting short on a long retired gun. | |
