After the dog has completed the swim-by process you can start the cheating singles. It is easier if the dog has had handling work on land first. Remember to give your dog plenty of fun, non-cheating marks in the water throughout this training. The first cheating singles are simple entry marks You want the lesson to focus on the entry, not the swiim or the exit. Make the bumper easy to find. Like all traiing, teach first, and then use correction once the dogs know what you want. Move up to simplify and move back to challenge. Repeat for success......... Stay-IN Then begin to use longer channels and have marks with angled exits......... Re-Entry Re-Entry cheaters with two bodies of water and re-entries over points provide additional challenges. Eventually you will do cheating singles with enrty, angle re-entry and angle exit. Finally you will make these cheating marks memory marks. Throughout your dog's career he/she will need to be brushed up on complex cheaters. | |
